Back from Italy

Join the Italian Cultural Institute and the Embassy of Italy, in collaboration with the Association of American College and University Programs in Italy, for an exhibition featuring a variety of designs and projects by architecture students who studied in eleven different American university programs in Italy (Rome, Florence, Genova). The panels displayed will provide an opportunity to evaluate how living for a significant period of time exposed to Italian architecture, art and culture can have a lasting influence on their future work.

On view until June 2nd.

LOCATION
Embassy of Italy - Auditorium
3000 Whitehaven St, NW
Washington, DC 20008

For young architecture students in their early twenties, spending a semester in Italy can be a powerful experience, and can profoundly affect the way they see the world, and possibly have a lasting influence on their work.

The Association of American Colleges and University Programs in Italy (AACCUPI) puts the number of students studying architecture in Italy at about 6000. Each year, these students make a sort of modern day Grand Tour of Italy, in which some of Italian architecture’s greatest achievements become their classrooms. Learning and living in the midst of Italy’s artistic, architectural and archeological heritage and interacting with these treasures in a vibrant urban environment can be a unique experience during their formative years.
